Forest Schools

Delivered in a real woodland by our own qualified Forest schools leaders who know our children.

We are an award winning Forest Schools provider delivering Forest Schools since 2008. The oldest and the best in the area.

And its free for all preschool children !

While your child is in preschool they will have the opportunity to undertake regular activities at the nursery’s woodland just 10 minutes drive from here and at large allotment site 5 minutes walk from our Chilwell nursery.

Alphabet House won a prestigious excellence award from the Royal Forestry Society for their Forest Schools provision. We beat hundreds of schools and nursery’s from all over the UK.

What is Forest Schools?

Forest Schools, originally a Danish concept, are a unique way to develop self esteem and independence skills in a woodland setting.

Our activities are based upon active, first hand experiences, designed to inspire learning across the curriculum and suited to children’s preferred learning styles.

Whether we are den building, searching for mini-beasts, treasure hunting, cooking on the camp fire or simply discovering the woodland environment, children are able to work at their own pace, developing their individual skills and gaining confidence along the way.

Where do our sessions take place?

Alphabet House (Long Eaton & Chilwell only) has the use of a wonderful private woodland. It is a beautiful, safe place, ever changing through the season and full of plants, flowers and wildlife.

We also deliver in our beautiful allotment site 2 mins from our Chilwell nursery. This too is full of different species of trees, plants and animals and full of wild uncultivated areas to explore.

In the autumn we always plants trees in the woods to act as a legacy for all the children who have come to play there.

We actively encourage parents/carers to come along and share in their child’s Forest School experience if they have the time.

Overall we guarantee your child will have a wonderful time playing in the woods.

See you in the woods soon!
